The Saturday of the Beer Festival is Harry’s Day in Billericay. Harry was a wonderful two year old boy who died from leukaemia in January 2009. His parents, Jim and Karen Smith founded Harry’s Charity as a way to thank Great Ormond Street Hospital for their efforts to save Harry’s life and to create something positive from a shattering tragedy. All the proceeds from Harry’s Day, and other events in his name – every single penny raised goes to the aid of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Great Ormond Street. For the last few years we haven’t been able to join in because we have been busy running the beer festival and the good folk that support Harry’s Day haven’t been able to come and having a refreshing pint with us. So last year we thought we should do something about it and invited the Harry’s Day team to come and join us on the Sunday and bring some of their children’s attractions with them and have Harry’s (Sun)Day. It worked so well, this year we have asked them to come back and make it bigger and better and make even more for Harry.

You can bring your kids along to the festival for free and entrance for adults is half price on Sunday. The kids can enjoy the Harry’s (Sun) Day stalls in return for a donation to their collection for GOSH whilst the parents can enjoy some of the fine ales and ciders we have to offer. What better way to spend a hopefully sunny Harry’s (Sun)day afternoon in Billericay.
