Since taking the difficult decision to postpone the Beer Festival last year we have continued to monitor events and have been in regular contact with the organisers of other beer festivals and our local breweries. Whilst the situation is better than twelve months ago it is still not back to pre-pandemic levels. Small, pub based, events are beginning to show positive signs but many of the standalone festival are still being cancelled and the few that have taken place have reported a substantial decrease in attendance. The breweries are telling us there is still lower demand for cask ale with a greater proportion of their reduced production going into cans and bottles meaning a decrease it both the quantity and variety of beers available for festivals.
We have left it as long as possible to make a final decision in the hope we could hold the festival in 2022 but time has run out and we do not believe we are able to organise the event we want and you would expect, so for the third year we have taken the painful decision to postpone again.
We hope that we will be able to return in 2023 but in the meantime please support your local pubs and breweries, they need all the help we can give them.
Updated 18th May 2022
Last year we took the difficult decision to postpone the 10th Billericay Beer Festival and hoped to be able to hold it at the end of June 2021. Whilst the situation is improving and the roadmap shows that many restrictions may be removed on June 21st, this is the earliest date it could happen and even a small delay could mean we could have to cancel at the last minute. There is also still uncertainty about what social distancing and face mask wearing will be recommended even after other restrictions are lifted. After considering these factors we feel we have no choice but to again postpone the festival. We will continue to monitor conditions and will update the website when we have a possible date for the 10th Billericay Beer Festival.
For now, we will leave the Beer Festival website with the details from the 9th Billericay Beer Festival that took place in June 2019. You can see what we did last time and will do again in 2022.
Updated 16th March 2021
The opening times and prices can be found here. This year, for the first time, we will be able to accept card payments for admission and beer cards (but there are no facilities for CashBack.)
As always we will have a selection of real ales and ciders from around the country as well as still supporting our local breweries, provisional lists are now available for beer and cider.
2019 see the return of live music at the Festival with three local acts appearing in the lounge bar.
The Harry’s Day team will be joining us again on Sunday and will bring along some of their children’s attractions. Please help them with their efforts to raise money in Harry’s memory for GOSH and make it a great Harry’s (Sun)Day.
If you are not sure where to find the beer festival please visit the Directions page or use Google Maps to locate West Billericay Community Centre Ltd or follow this link – Google Map directions DO NOT search for Hannakins Farm, it will take you to the wrong place which is a 30 minute walk away.
2019 Sponsors
As well as trying to provide a fantastic community event we are also trying to raise as much as we can for the Billericay Lions Charity which we use to help people in the local community as well as supporting Lions global projects. None of this would be possible without the help of our sponsors, some old friends have agreed to support us again this year and we are delighted to welcome some new faces. If you are interested in becoming one of our sponsors you can read about the opportunities available in our Sponsorship Letter or please contact us at beer@billericaylions.com
