Charitable Donations
We make regular charitable donations from the money raised by our fundraising events. Most donations go to local charities with some also going to National and International charitable causes as well. The most recent examples are:
Engineering Development Trust
We contributed towards the cost of funding a team of 6 school students from Billericay School in the engineering based training opportunity called Go4Set.
Billericay Art Trail
Sponsored the “Try it and See” sessions at the Billericay Art Trail, which showcases the talents of local artists and promotes local business by encouraging people to visit the wide variety of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, churches and other community venues to view a wide variety of art throughout the Trail.
BOSP (Brighter Opportunities Through Supported Play

Billericay and Wickford District Scout Group
Funding towards the cost of sending 9 scouts from the District to the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia USA in July/August 2019.
Barrow Farm Riding Centre for the Disabled
To mark Lions Clubs Centennial Year, a district project with 7-clubs enabled us to fund an all-weather outdoors riding path thus enabling people with special needs and disabilities help develop their abilities and enrich their lives through riding. The physical benefits of riding help improve balance and co-ordination, increased suppleness, joint mobility and muscle tone.
Samaritans
We made a donation to help support the works that the Samaritans carry out in our area.
Romanian Pride
A donation to help fund this project, which involves a group of individual Lions giving up their time to give Romanian children a childhood. Every year they spend valuable time with the children, who are aged 4 and upwards, providing them with experiences that they will remember forever and helping improve the lives of those less fortunate than us.
South Green Infant and Nursery Schools
Funding to provide equipment for 2 sensory rooms, one in each school for children with Special Educational Needs. The rooms and equipment help provide a quiet and relaxed environment for those with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and other sensory problems.
Epilepsy Society Referral
We were approached by the Epilepsy Society to help a local family whose son has Epilepsy. We funded the purchase of a Clonic Tonic Seizure Monitor, which is designed to detect seizures during the night. The benefits to the family are twofold: The son has increased confidence at bedtime and it gives the parent’s peace of mind and restful nights sleep.
Billericay Parkrun
A donation to purchase a defibrillator for the weekly 5km runs that take place every week in Lake Meadows. This has enabled over 200 runners to take part every week helping them to stay fit. This in turn impacts on helping reduce NHS costs.
