Investing in youth

You may have seen Billericay Lions at our bookstall in the High Street every Saturday morning, or touring the local streets every December with Father Christmas and our Sleigh, but what you may not know is that we support three youth projects for the young people of Billericay

International Peace Poster Competition

This is an opportunity to encourage young artists aged 11-13 to think about the importance of world peace, tolerance and international understanding, and to pass it on by sharing their unique visions with the world, through pictures.

Young Leaders In Service

A scheme to recognize young people aged 12-18 for their community service within a 12 month period:

• 50 hours of community service = Silver Seal Award

• 100 hours of community service = Gold Seal Award

Recipients will receive a Silver or Gold Award certificate and a congratulatory letter from the president of Lions Clubs International.

Young Ambassador of the 21st Century

Each year we are look for an exceptional young volunteer aged between 15 and 19 to represent Billericay in a national competition that acknowledges the work of young people in the community giving them the recognition they deserve and highlighting the charities and volunteer groups with which they are involved. We have sponsored 3 successful young volunteers in the last 5 years each of whom won a £500 bursary towards a community project they planned to work on.

If you would like to participate in any of these schemes, please ask one of your teachers in school or a leader in your voluntary organisation to email : youth@billericaylions.com to find out how to participate.
