Tiptree Jam Museum
At our November Fellowship Meeting, Nick Wickenden, museum curator of Wilkins and Sons gave us a very interesting talk, accompanied by slides, on the history of how the company was set up in the early 1700s to produce jam from fruit grown on land they had bought in Tiptree, Essex, to the present day.
They now produce multiple products and run several tearooms in the County. To this day strawberries have always remained the key crop on the farm and they are responsible for introducing new innovative methods in recent years to increase their crop. They now export to many different countries worldwide.
