Barrow Farm RDA’s 50th Anniversary

Billericay Lions recently joined forces with Barrow Farm Riding for the Disabled (RDA) to help celebrate a remarkable milestone: their 50th anniversary open week.

To mark the occasion, Billericay Lions Club President Lisa Hull presented a cheque for £550 to Barrow Farm Treasurer Graham Fairhead. The funding was dedicated to providing lunches and refreshments for the charity’s staff, volunteers, and visitors across the week-long celebrations.

In addition to financial support, a hands-on team of Billericay Lions attended the final day of the event. Members spent the day preparing and serving food in the kitchen as well as manning the car park to welcome guests.

Barrow Farm RDA is a vital local asset, providing therapeutic riding, carriage driving, and alternative off-horse activities for 120 disabled adults and children each week. Among their specialized programs is “Tea with a Pony,” which provides gentle, enriching experiences specifically tailored for people living with dementia and similar conditions.

By a wonderful coincidence, the final day of the anniversary event coincided with the King’s Birthday Flypast. Guests and volunteers on site were treated to a perfect view of the formation passing directly through the flight path above the farm.

Billericay Lions extend their warmest congratulations to Barrow Farm RDA for half a century of invaluable service to our community, and look forward to supporting their brilliant work for years to come.
