Disability Swim Event
Organised by Swim England Essex and supported by Billericay Lions Club, the first Essex “Swimmability” Meet was held on Saturday 6th September 2025.
This fun event open to any swimmer with a disability – physical, sensory or learning attracted over 50 swimmers from 7 swimming clubs.
Every swimmer received a certificate and medal presented by Billericay Lions President Lisa Hull, Essex Swimming Manager Helen Stephens and Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education Excellence, Skills and Training Cllr Tony Ball.
In addition to producing and presenting the individual certificates, Billericay Lions main role was to man each lane as timekeepers.
Gold and Silver medal Paralympic swimmer Brock Whiston chatted to swimmers between races and posed with each swimmer for selfies during the presentation ceremony.
