Quiz Walk

One of our members organises an annual quiz walk at a different location each year. These walks have become a very popular social event for the members and they are always well supported.

This year’s walk on 15 Sept 2019 was around the Lawford, Manningtree and Mistley area of the Tendring district of north east Essex. Once again we were blessed with good weather as members and their partners were formed into teams of four and got their thinking caps on to solve the cryptic clues.

Setting off from St. Mary the Virgin Church in Lawford, the quizzers headed off down towards Manningtree Rail Station whilst trying to solve the cryptic clues set by our dastardly quiz master. From the station they headed into Manningtree to visit all the places of interest. Still the questions kept coming thick and fast as they then continued along a lovely stretch of the Riven Stour before stopping for lunch at the Mistley Thorn Hotel and Restaurant close to Mistley Quayside.

Fully refreshed and replenished the quizzers returned by an ingenious route comprising a mixture of footpaths and street walking to return to Lawford by a different route.

A good time was had by all and the quiz was a close run thing with only one point separating the winners from the runners-up.
